ESC is honored to partner with Advot, an organization committed to empowering underserved youth by modeling how to self-advocate and build healthy relationships. Using a trauma-informed approach, Advot’s staff teaches communication skills through fun and interactive techniques that expose their young participants to the arts and theater. Advot adapts their programs to a variety of settings, including juvenile detention facilities, after-school programs, and youth groups.
Naomi Ackerman, founder and Executive Director of Advot, began collaborating with ESC in 2023, joining our Executive Directors Leadership Institute (EDLI). Naomi found her EDLI community to be “a warm and supportive environment” that nurtured confidence, provided guidance, and equipped her with the tools to implement new leadership practices. She praises her experience with ESC saying “it’s like family. I can always come back to ESC and ask for advice, and that is a great reality.”
Naomi says ESC’s support was instrumental in building her confidence. She now approaches fundraising without hesitation, takes pride in her role, and exudes greater conviction in her leadership.
In recent years and since partnering with ESC, Advot’s budget has grown significantly — increasing from approximately $300,000 to $1 million in 2024. Naomi believes this growth occurred in tandem with her development as a leader, and how she is now more poised in her role as Executive Director than ever before. As Advot grew and its staff expanded, Naomi recently brought together members of her team to join ESC’s Developing Development Program (DDP). Together in DDP, they are continuing to establish a strong financial foundation for long-term sustainability.
